Welcome to The Studio on Seaborn Recording Studio

Equipment Used In The Studio

When I decided to equip this studio with recording equipment, the choices available are immense.

Some studios focus on using vintage analog gear in order to chase that "classic sound" created in the '70's and 80's. I decided to opt for using products that could not only meet the rigors of today's electronic music, but also emulate the great production desks of the vinyl era.

Universal Audio Apollo X16

The Apollo line of interfaces are considered to be some of the best available. Universal Audio was founded by Bill Putnam; he is considered to be one of the most pioneers of recording equipment since studio equipment started to be used in recording studios. The Apollo series is the flagship product line for Universal Audio.

LUNA Recording Software

LUNA workstation software is the creation of Universal Audio, which was designed to take full advantage of all of the inherent features that are included in Apollo series interfaces. It is not only compatible with most brands of DAW software, but adds the ability to simulate the sound and appearance of some of the most sought after production consoles ever made. It is also capable of emulating outboard gear (such as compressors, equalizers, multitrack tape machines, and effects gear) that are considered the best ever created.

RAVEN Touchscreen Production Desk by Steven Slate Audio

One of the best production tools for managing digital recording equipment during recording and mixing process is the RAVEN digital workstation by SLATE DIGITAL. This interface allows the recording engineer to experience the feel of a wide variety of top-name mixing consoles while working with a fully digital recording system.

Digital Modeling Microphones

One of the greatest technological advances that has emerged in the recording scene recently is the introduction of digital modeling microphones. Universal Audio's SPHERE line of modeling microphones has turned the microphone industry on it's head with the DLX and LX models. These microphones have been developed to model the recording characteristics of 38 of the most popular and amazing studio microphones. This enables us to provide the very best sampling of every note played in our studio.

Special Purpose Microphones

When I started assembling the inventory of microphones that would be used for percussion, brass, woodwinds, guitar and bass amplifiers, vocals, strings, etc. we took our time to do the research to find out what microphones would render the best sonic results during recording sessions. Then I patiently began the process of acquiring the long list of microphones that were necessary to assure our success.
